Remembering Kevin
Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts.
We never forget them. Kevin Koizumi was one of those people. He was a
WSSRA "regular" who loved the activity and friendships he found with WSSRA.
Swimming was one of his absolute favorites!
When Kevin passed away last year, people who loved him wanted to
remember him in a meaningful way.
His parents knew how much WSSRA programs meant to him and approached
WSSRA about a fitting memorial. Staff remembered Kevin's love of swimming
and with his family's blessing a decision was made to honor Kevin by purchasing
warm-up suits for the Stingray Swim Team. The Stingrays represent WSSRA in
Special Olympic competition.
This fall a special memorial for Kevin was held at the start of the Stingray
swim season. The Stingray Swim Team wore their new warm-up suits proudly
and committed themselves to swimming their personal best for Kevin. WSSRA
staff and participants are very grateful to the Koizumi family for their generous
donation. As his teammaates jumped into the pool, his family and friends were
comforted knowing how very proud Kevin would be.
