The West Suburban Special Recreation Foundation, (the “Foundation” or “WSSRF”) is an advisory board for the West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) and is a volunteer organization founded in 1985 by parents of participants in the West Suburban Special Recreation Association.
We are a small foundation with a clearly
defined objective: to help people with disabilities have fun, to encourage
socialization, and develop physical and mental skills.
The Foundation hosts a number of “fun raising” events each year
with all the proceeds going to benefit the West Suburban Special
Recreation Association. We are looking for donors, individual
volunteers or groups that can assist with special fundraising events
and can serve as members for the board of trustees. See the various
giving and volunteering opportunities throughout this website.
Mission Statement: The West Suburban Special Recreation Foundation is dedicated to raising funds so that the quality of WSRRA programs can be maintained and additional activities can be provided.
The purposes of the Foundation are to:
- Promote and further leisure skills development
of adults and youth with any type of disability.
- Create skill development programs and
provide such programs to the member communities
- Enhance the quality of life
and aid in the normalization of adults and youths
with disabilities for the benefit of the general public.
- To provide funding sufficient to implement these purposes.
